East Troops with Sponsor Support Build New House for a Needy Family

The Security Force Headquarters-East troops showing their concern for human welfare erected a new house for a needy family in Kallady, Mawadichenei area with sponsorship provided by Mr. Roshan Rajappa, resided in the US, through the coordination of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva. The new house was vested in the beneficiary on Wednesday (21 June) during a brief ceremony.

The overlooking Commanding Officer of the 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment took the initiative to complete this house using technical skills and manpower of Army personnel for the construction work.

The Security Forces -East Commander, Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc gave guidance for the project and the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc and Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade enabled the completion of the project as planned.

During the warming ceremony, the house keys were symbolically handed over to Mrs. Sivakumar Ramachiththa, a mother without a proper house by the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division.

At the same occasion, the beneficiary was donated household appliances, worth of Rs 120,000/= and furniture worth about Rs: 50,000/- by the Army Directorate of Welfare, Rs. 48,000/- by Mr. Roshan Rajappa, Rs. 30,800.00 by the monks at Seruwila Mangala Rajamaha Viharaya and the business community through the coordination of 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops.

The Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade, Civil Affairs Officer of the 222 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers of 22 Infantry Division, Officers and Other Ranks were among participants in the warming ceremony.
