The annual Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebration at the Security Force Headquarters-East camp premises took place on 9 April under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces-East, Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc.
The event was comprised of traditional and rural games, such as climbing of the Grease Tree, Pillow Fighting, tug of war, Run through obstacles, Fancy dress competition, Selection of the New Year beauty queen, etc. The location of the ceremony was rich with the traditional model ‘Gemi Gedara’, decorations and other arrangements where customs, rites and rituals were observed.
On that special day, the Commander of the Security Forces-East distributed gifts among 35 civil employees working at the Security Force Headquarters along with a pack of 5 kg of rice.
As the chief guest, Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Brigadier H.M.L.K Amunugama, Brigadier Coordinating (Volunteer), Security Forces - East, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, family members and civil staff witnessed this New Year festival.
