The students at Madurankenikulam School and Kirimichchiodei School in Batticaloa district were the recipients of special lunch packets on 24 March, donated by Major General Sujeewa Hettiararchchi, Commander, Security Forces - East along with members of his family.
6 Gajaba Regiment troops under the 23 Division of the Security Force HQ-East were instrumental in organizing the distribution of those 200 lunch packets among students in coordination with Senior Officers.
The Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Sujeewa Hettiararchchi, Colonel General Staff, 23 Infantry Division, Civil Affairs Officer, Security Force Headquarters - East, Second in Command of 6 Gajaba Regiment were present during the distribution of those lunch packets.
Having learnt the economic hardships of the students in both schools, the East Commander, together with the financial contribution of his family members, decided the welfare project.
