East-based Troops Take Sinhala-Tamil Students on Educational Tour


Troops serving the Security Force Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E), continued to be engaged in different social activities, including Shramadana campaigns, conduct of seminars for school children, organizing  musical shows and educational tours in the past few days.
 
Troops serving the 12 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Regiment under the 232 Brigade of the 23 Division and the troops of 2 Gajaba Regiment (GR) under the 221 Brigade of the 22 Division launched separate Shramadana projects to clean the premises at Dimbulagala Damminna School, Polonnaruwa and St Anthony’s Church in Trincomalee.
 
In the meantime, 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops serving under 242 Brigade of the 24 Division organized a seminar for Grade 11 students at Ulla Sinhapura Sinhala School on Friday (14) in order to help them for preparations in the forthcoming G.C. E O/L in December.    
 
Meanwhile, 24 Division Headquarters of the SFHQ-E accompanied students of two schools, Gamini Vidyalaya of Ampara and Vinayagar Tamil Vidyalayam of Thirukkovil on educational trips to Trincomalee during November 15-16 in the weekend.8 teachers and 47 students joined the trip from both schools.
 
During this journey to Trincomalee, students and teachers were taken to see important places, including Kinniya  Bridge,  Marble  Beach, Koneswaram  Kovil,  Gokanna Temple,  Hot water  wells  Kinniya, Naval  Museum, Girihaduseya Thiriyaya  and  Nilaveli  Beach.   
 
In the meantime, troops of the 221 Brigade of the 22 Division organized a musical show at the Army grounds  in Pankulama. More than 500 troops, enjoyed the evening with civilians late into night on Saturday (15). 221 Brigade Commander attended the event as the Chief Guest together with several other senior officers.
