Major General Hemantha Bandara, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni on the eve of his exit from the Wanni command undertook a formal visit to the 54 Division HQ in Mannar on Tuesday (28) where he joined the distribution of 25 dry ration packets among needy families of former LTTE combatants and other deserving people in Mannar on Tuesday (28) following sponsorship, extended by a team of second year students at Malabe SLIT Institute.
During the visit to the 54 Division HQ, the Commander, Security Forces-Wanni was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, 54 Division, Major General Darshana Wijesekera before he was greeted to a Guard Turnout, presented by 10 (V) Gemunu Watch troops at the entrance to the 54 Division Headquarters.
Those former combatants who were given the Presidential pardon a few weeks ago received those packs of essentials and the whole arrangement was streamlined under the supervision of the 54 Division's General Officer Commanding, Major General Darshana Wijesekera in coordination with the Commander 541 Brigade, Colonel Ajith Abeywardene.
Major General Hemantha Bandara, Commander, Security Forces- Wanni thanked everyone in the 54 Division HQ for their unstinted support for conduct of administrative operations during his office on the eve of his departure from the SFHQ-Wanni. All Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers joined the occasion adhering to health guidelines.
