With Donors’ Support, 7 SLA Troops Erect New House for a Civilian

With funds made available by donors, 7 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) troops of the 233 Brigade under the 23 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East erected one more new house for a needy family in Minneriya area and vested it in the family on Friday (29) during a simple ceremony.

The beneficiary, Mrs P.G Rohini Kumari Wickramapala of Maharathmale, Minneriya was leading a hand to mouth life when her situation was brought to the notice of the Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Channa Weerasuriya.

The construction of the new house was completed by 7 SLA troops well ahead of the deadline under the close supervision of the 7 SLA, Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Chandana Harischandra. Funds for raw materials and other metal needs were donated by donors in the area, thanks to the initiatives taken by the Security Force Headquarters - East.

The inaugural warming ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding 23 Division, Major General Nalin Koswatta, Commander 233 Brigade Colonel Wasantha Hewage, Chief Civil Affairs Officer at SFHQ-E, Colonel Ushan Gunawardhana, Commanding Officer 7 SLA Lieutenant Colonel Chandana Harischandra, troops who built the house and a gathering of civilians living in the area participated in the simple ceremony, adhering to health guidelines.
