Donors Turn to 4 SLSR Troops of 551 Brigade for Repairs

Troops of the 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under command to the 551 Brigade of the 55 Division of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna repaired the Primary Health Centre in Kottawattai in Karanawai, Grama Niladhari Divison and formally vested it back in authorities on Thursday (10).

Donors, Mrs V. Thyagendran, Mr N Vishnukanthan and Mr A Vigneshwaran, having noticed the dilapidated status of this public building, contacted the Army and turned for assistance seeking technical expertise and manpower since three of them are prepared to sponsor the cost of the repairs.

Accordingly, the task was undertaken by the 551 Brigade on the guidelines given by Brigadier Sisira Pilapitiya, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division. Afterwards, 4 SLSR troops on the directions of Brigadier Nilantha Premarathna, 551 Brigade Commander completed the task within a few days under the close supervision of Lieutenant Colonel S. Dassanayke, Commanding Officer, 4 SLSR.

General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, Brigadier Sisira Pilapitiya as the Chief Guest inaugurated the Army-renovated Primary Health Care Centre at the request of provincial Health Department officials. He was also invited to plant a sapling to mark the occasion.

551 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer 4 SLSR and senior officers, together with provincial health authorities attended the event.
