The technical skills and engineering expertise of Army personnel serving the 122 Brigade HQ under the 12 Division of the Security Force HQ - Central with financial support given by the Basnayake Nilame of the Kataragama Maha Devalaya built a new house for a needy family in Kawantissapura area in Tissamaharama and vested it in the beneficiaries on Sunday (19) during a simple ceremony.
3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops with fellow-soldiers built this new house within a very short period after funds were released for this exclusive purpose by the donor. 122 Brigade through the 12 Division HQ projected the miserable plight of this family, resident in the area and sought the assistance for the construction.
The house-warming ceremony was attended by the donor and the General Officer Commanding, 12 Division Major General Lanka Amarapala where religious rites and other rituals were observed. Several furniture pieces, needed for the family were also delivered to the family on the same occasion.
