Directorate of Veteran Affairs Meets Former Veterans

A group of former War Heroes representing District Ranaviru Associations of Moneragala, NuwaraEliya and Badulla Districts on Monday (1) had a cordial discussion on their future welfare plans and other activities with the visiting Director of Veterans’ Affairs, Brigadier M Mayadunna at the Golf Club premises in Diyatalawa.

Those Rannaviru Association members, comprised of retired and medically boarded out established those units on a concept of the Commander of the Army who wanted to ensure their well-being and receipt of the benefits of welfare programmes, enabling them to live with pride and respect.

Meanwhile, through the coordination of Vavuniya District Ranaviru Association, steps were taken by the Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs to donate a wheelchair to the retired Warrant Officer II, M.M Herath Banda who is partly handicapped, resident in Periyakulama, Vavuniya area. The donation was delivered by the Civil Coordinating Officer, Lieutenant Colonel W.A.S Priyanthalalof the 56 Division on 5th November.

Brigadier M Mayadunna, Director of Veterans’ Affairs presided the meeting and shared views with those attendees.
