Directorate of Provost Holds Workshop on 'Fingerprinting'

The Directorate of Provost with the motive of imparting knowledge to the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) personnel on the techniques of ‘Fingerprinting’ held a one-day workshop in cooperation with the Fingerprinting Bureau and the Police on 21 November 2023 at the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police HQ premises in Polhengoda.

The opening address to the workshop was made by the Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A.C.A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc.

A total of 66 Non-Commissioned Officers who perform island-wide provost duties participated in the workshop sessions, inclusive of the history of fingerprinting, analyzing, comparisons, evaluation and verification of fingerprint identifications, fingerprint identification and classification, practical aspects of fingerprinting, principles of classifying, searching, and comparing specific types of fingerprints, etc.

The core objective of the workshop was to widen the knowledge of SLCMP Non-Commissioned Officers on techniques of fingerprints and related subject areas.

The closing ceremony was held at the end of the sessions where the participants received certificates of participation in the one-day workshop. The Colonel Provost at the Directorate of Provost, Colonel E.M.I Ekanayaka graced the concluding occasion as the Chief Guest.
