Brigadier (Dr) K.G.K.H. Wijewardane RSP USP, Director Army Medical Services, visited the Army Base Hospital in Kilinochchi on 22 November 2024 to assess its operations and receive updates on its performance.
Upon arrival, the visiting Senior Officer was accorded a ceremonial drive pass and warmly welcomed by Major (Dr) C. Jayasinghe, the Officer Commanding of the hospital. The Officer Commanding provided a detailed briefing on the hospital's capabilities and services, highlighting its pivotal role in delivering healthcare to Army personnel and their families.
During the inspection, the Director visited several key areas, including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU), dental section, X-ray unit, laboratory, outdoor pharmacy, and ward complex. The hospital, equipped with 45 beds, plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of Army personnel and their dependents.
Concluding the visit, the Director Army Medical Services attended a tea gathering at the Officers' Mess and signed the visitors’ book. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the occasion.
