Major General W.G.P. Sisira Kumara RSP, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), made a courtesy visit to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School (SLAVFTS) on 5th October 2024. SLAVFTS is the premier training institution for the Volunteer Force.
Upon the arrival, Major General W.G.P Sisira Kumara was warmly welcomed by Colonel J.A.J. Jayaratne KSP, Commandant of SLAVFTS, and was honored with an elegant Guard Turnout. To commemorate the occasion, the Senior Officer planted a sapling in the premises and posed for group photographs with the troops.
During the visit,Colonel J.A.J. Jayaratne KSP delivered a comprehensive briefing on the achievements and future needs of SLAVFTS. In his address to the troops, Major General Sisira Kumara RSP, expressed his satisfaction with the school's steady progress to the rate of "excellent" in a recent training audit.
He extended his gratitude to the staff for their dedicated efforts in raising the standard of trainings for volunteer members.
Following the address, Major General Sisira Kumara RSP toured the training school and later joined the All-Ranks tea, where he engaged with the troops, fostering camaraderie and encouragement.
