Delegation from Tanzania’s NDC Learns More About SL Army

A group of 16 student officers from the National Defence College (NDC) of Tanzania, now in Sri Lanka, as part of their overseas familiarization component in their curriculum, arrived at the Army Headquarters on Friday (3) in order to meet the Commander of the Army and other senior officers.

The visit of the delegation, led by Major General (Retd) Festo Ndewiro Uiomi, was coordinated by Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) on the directions of the Ministry of Defence. Those delegates will stay in Sri Lanka until Saturday (4).

During their cordial meet with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva at the Commander’s office, those representatives exchanged views on matters of academic relevance and interest with special focus on Sri Lanka’s success over terrorism.

Before their departure, the Commander presented a memento to the head of the delegation and the move was reciprocated.

Afterwards, a presentation, followed by a panel discussion, organized by the Directorate of Training enlightened the visiting delegates on the roles and tasks of the Sri Lanka Army.

Major General Nandana Udawatta, Major General Kamal Gunaratne, Major General N.J Walgama, Major General B.A Perera, Major General G.D.I Karunarathne and several senior officers were present at the conference.
