Delegation for 'SL - Pakistan Defence Talks' Speaks to Commander

A delegation from Pakistan Defence Forces and her Ministry of Defence, now in Sri Lanka for the annual ‘Sri Lanka - Pakistan Army to Army Defence Talks’ Round 3 of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) called at the Army Headquarters Monday (14) afternoon and met the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva.

The delegation, comprised of Major General Istikhar Ahmad Wyne, Director General Foreign Cooperation, Joint Operation Headquarters, Brigadier Amjad Ali Satti, Director Staff Duties and Colonel Mohammed Rajil Irshad Khan, Defence Attaché, during the interactive meeting had a brief exchange of views regarding matters of military training importance to both organizations and explored possibilities of further enhancing training slots for officers and other ranks.

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva extending best wishes on the proposed ‘Sri Lanka - Pakistan Army to Army Defence Talks’ presented them with symbolic mementos and the gesture was reciprocated.

On the directions of the Commander of the Army, Major General B.A Perera, Director General General Staff, Brigadier K.P.A Jayasekara, Director Training and Lieutenant Colonel S.A Hettige, General Staff Officer 1, General Staff Branch at Army Headquarters represent the Sri Lanka Army during the ‘Sri Lanka - Pakistan Army to Army Defence Talks’.

This annual dialogue between Pakistan and Sri Lanka defence establishments has immensely benefitted Sri Lanka’s tri-services in many ways in terms of training, logistics, career planning, research and development and administrative aspects since its inception some three years ago.

The delegation during its stay here is expected to have separate courtesy calls on the Chief of Defence Staff, Navy and Air Force Commanders, High Commissioner for Pakistan and a few other senior officers in the OCDS.
