Considering the financial difficulties of Army members, caused due to the economic recession that occurred in the mid of 2022, Hon President at the request of the Commander of the Army recommended an increment of close to Rs 10,000/= for their monthly ration allowances with the intention of lessening their burden.
Accordingly, the monthly ration allowance of all Army personnel on active service was increased from April 2023, and it was subsequently added to their monthly salary, effective from May 2023. However, there occurred an administrative delay as regards the addition of the increased allowance to the salary of war-affected disabled Army personnel and payment, made on behalf of dead Army members in May.
The Sri Lanka Army nevertheless on Tuesday (20) made all necessary arrangements to release delayed ration increments to their salaries for the months of April and May 2023. (Ends)
