Defence Services Tennis Tournament – 2025 Concludes with Prize Awarding Ceremony

The Prize Awarding Ceremony of the Defence Services Tennis Tournament – 2025 was held on 04 April 2025 at the Army Tennis Courts, Narahenpita. The tournament was organized by the Sri Lanka Army Tennis Committee with the participation of players representing the Tri-Forces.

The awarding ceremony was graced by Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, as the Chief Guest. The event was conducted under the supervision of Major General T.C.M.G.S.T Cooray RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Tennis Committee.

Upon arrival, the Chief Guest was received by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Tennis Committee.

Prior to the awarding ceremony, an exhibition match was held between teams from the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Navy, showcasing the skills and sportsmanship of the players from both forces.

During the event, 56 competitors representing the Tri-Forces competed in 07 categories from 25th to 28th March 2025. The overall championship being won by the Sri Lanka Navy, while the Sri Lanka Air Force remained as runners-up in the event.

Tennis is often considered a gentleman's sport, requiring skill, discipline, and respect for the game. With the resources available in the Tri-Forces, sportsmen continue to strive for excellence.
