SECRETARY Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa handed over deeds to war heroes, who were engaged in fierce battles during recently concluded humanitarian operations, today (17 Nov) in a special ceremony held at the Defence Ministry.
Seventeen war heroes received deeds from the Secretary Defence including wife of late war hero Major SAAS Sakalasooriya.
The original owner of the land was Mr. Wanigasooriya of Karagahamulla, Kadawatha, and it had been entrusted to the Public Trustee. The Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province who was formely Public Trustee Mr. Janaka Mapa Bandara made the initial arrangements to give away the land among war heroes. The incombend Public Trustee Mr. Sarathchandra Senevirathna, coordinated the remaning work for destribution.
Additional Secretary (Public Relations and Development) Mr. W.W Gamage, Additional Secretary (Technical) Mr. B.K.U.A Wickramasinghe, Director General of MCNS Mr. Lakshman Hulugalla, Project Coordinator of the MOD Mr. Lesly Rupasingha and Legal Advisor of MOD Mrs. Kariapperuma were also present at the occasion.
