A gathering of 50 deaf youngsters, resident in and around Kilinochchi, in what could be meant as an attempt to provide them with happiness as equals, met one another on Friday (26) at Nelum Piyasa auditorium at Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), following arrangements, made by 57 Division Headquarters.
The programme, headed by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN to coincide with the ‘World Deaf Day’, awarded gift parcels and dry ration packets to all 50 youngsters who were invited to the occasion.
A dry ration packet, worth Rs 2000/= plus a gift parcel containing a T-shirt, a cap and a mug was given to each invitee by the Commander.
Several senior officers were present at the event.
