Overnight rescue operations of 1 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops under command to 583 Brigade of 58 Division and 8 SLSR troops of the 611 Brigade at Thumbaliyadda in Anguruwella where a two-storied house with people alive were buried recovered dead bodies of the mother and the son of the family during small hours on Saturday (15).
However, one of the sons at the time the landslide struck the house was out of home for some other requirement.
On the directions of Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces - West, troops of the 61 Division and 58 Division under the guidelines given by Major General Mohan Rathnayake, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division,Major General Wipula Ihalage ,General Officer Commanding, 58 Division, Brigadier Sujeewa Eregoda, 611 Brigade Commander are engaged in rescue and clearing operations with the participation of Lieutenant Colonel Sri Samarasinha, Commanding Officer, 1 SLSR, Major Ajith Ekanayake, Commanding Officer, 8 SLSR and Disaster Management Officials.
