COS Opens New House, Built On His Initiative at Oyamaduwa

Major General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment, Gajaba Regiment and Commando Regiment this morning (26) went to Oyamaduwa at the invitation of Mrs Needra Weerasinghe, Director - Electronic Media, Capital Maharaja Group of Companies and Mr Sagara Palansuriya, Chairperson, National Housing Development Authority and vested a new house in one Mr Ravindra Saraka Samaratunge at Oyamaduwa as the first humanitarian project of the ‘Sirasa Niwasa’.

The construction of the new house for Mr Ravindra Saraka Samaratunge was enabled due to an initiative taken by Capital Maharaja Group of Companies, now launched this project to provide permanent houses to needy people in rural areas, following coordination done by Major General Shavendra Silva.

Gajaba Regiment troops also supported this generous work by providing engineering expertise and labour for its construction.

Major General Shavendra Silva on arrival was welcomed by the officials at Capital Maharaja Group of Companies and National Housing Development Authority, together with Colonel Mahinda Rajapaksha, the Deputy Centre Commandant, GR HQ and Mr Ravindra Saraka Samaratunge and family, the beneficiaries, then cut a ribbon and warmed the house amidst religious observances.

The day’s Chief Guest, Major General Shavendra Silva also donated a valuable gift pack while greeting the beneficiaries along with Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, the Chairperson of the Gajaba Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit.

Subsequently in the afternoon (26), the Chief of Staff and Gajaba Regiment troops joined hands with ‘Thuru Sirasa’ tree planting programme at the Regimental Centre in Saliyapura.

Troops planted 1000 plus plants inside the camp and supported the Army’s ongoing ‘Thuru Liya Wenuwen Api’ project.Adidas footwear | Nike Air Force 1 , Sneakers , Ietp STORE
