Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Regimental HQ Felicitates New Chief of Staff

Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda on Wednesday (1) hosted a reception and felicitated the recently-appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Major General Jagath Gunawardena when he made his first official visit to the Regimental HQ upon assumption of his new office as 55th Chief of Staff in the Army.

The Regimental Centre Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Brigadier M Mayadunna, warmly received the day's Chief Guest on arrival and a subsequent Guard Turnout at the entrance greeted him in accordance with military formalities.

Giving pride of place to the memory of all fallen SLE War Heroes, Major General Jagath Gunawardena afterwards laid a floral wreath at the SLE War Heroes' monument and paid his tribute in a solemn ceremony.

A few seconds later, the Parade Commander invited the day's protagonist to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour and receive the salute from the special dais. Colourfully-dressed SLE troops participated in the arrangement.

During his brief address to the troops at the Lieutenant General Angammana Memorial Hall, the Chief of Staff Major General Jagath Gunawardena emphasized the need for All Ranks to possess sound leadership and decent qualities which would in turn keep the Regiment’s flag flying high.
