Amidst religious rites, rituals and observances, Major General S.U.M.N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on Thursday (06) cut the first soil sod and laid the corner-stone for construction of the Main Guard Room at the entrance to the SLAVF HQ complex at Kosgama.
The brief ceremony also saw the laying of the foundation stone for the proposed ‘B’ Guard Room at the auspicious minute, cutting the first sod of soil as members of the Maha Sangha began chanthing 'Seth Pirith'. The project was initiated by the SLAVF Commandant with the objective of developing infrastructure facilities at the SLAVF HQ complex which received a new face-lift after the complex was affected by a major fire several years ago.
Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, the SLAVF Deputy Commandant in collaboration with the Commanding Officers and their troops of the Volunteer Battalions would provide manpower and technical skills for the erection. Respective other Guard Points would also be set up in the Headquarters soon as per directions of the SLAVF Commandant.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks in the SLAVF joined the occasion.
