The ongoing construction of the artificial Hockey ground at Pallekele, the brainchild of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva, received a fillip on Tuesday (22) when Brigadier Nalin Bandaranayake, Director Sports, laid the cornerstone for construction of its new pavilion.
The construction of the pavilion project, estimated at Rs 32 m is to be completed within 7 months. The construction is to be carried out by 17 Corps of Engineer Services troops.
Major K.M.G Amaranayake, Secretary to the Sri Lanka Army Hockey Committee, officers and Other Ranks participated in the corer-stone laying ceremony.
