Coordinating Conference Addresses Flood Relief Efforts for Displaced People in Seethawaka

A coordinating conference was held on 02 June 2024 at the Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat to address issues concerning the displaced people due to the flood situation caused by adverse weather conditions in the area.

Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the President presided the conference. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, Major General K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP, General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division, Secretary of the Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat, Senior Officers of Army and Air Force, Police Officials and Government Officials participated in the conference.

During the discussion, officials focused on several critical issues affecting the area. They deliberated extensively on providing food for the displaced people, ensuring the restoration of electricity and communication services, and conducting disaster relief operations combined with the Armed Forces. Further, the Commander of the Army stated that all measures would be taken by the Army to assist disaster relief mechanism conducted by the government authorities as necessary.
