Cooks &;amp; Stewards in the Army Further Trained

Following a notion that was mooted by the Commander of the Army, two training programmes on further promotion of the professional knowledge on cookery and stewardship got underway on Monday (11) for the benefit of Army cooks and stewards working in island-wide Army formations.

On the directions of the Director General General Staff branch, Directorate of Training and Civil Administrations Directorate and with the cooperation of Swiss Lanka Hotel School and Aquinas University College, the two-month long practical training programmes began on Monday (11) during a simple ceremony.

The programme has selected 25 members of both vocations under the first phase and the programme is to continue upon completion of the first batch, according to the Directorate of Civil Administrations.

The programme, conducted at both theoretical and practical levels, would educate the stewards for two weeks and others a period of one month before they are given practical sessions.
