As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in many parts of the country, troops of the Security Force HQ-East with a view to readying for any emergency converted the Kantale Youth Centre to serve as one more Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) as directed by the Commander Security Forces-East Major General Channa Weerasuriya and the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Division Major General Samantha Silva.
The SFHQ-East as per guidelines given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army has been busy converting several such places in the eastern province in order to face any contingencies, related to COVID-19 cases.
The converted Kantale Youth Centre consists of 150 beds and its establishment was supported by the District Secretary and the Regional Director of Health Services for Trincomalee.
