Community Based Projects to Uplift Living Condition of Civilians in East Continued

Many community based activities were conducted by the Security Force Head Quarters –East (SFHQ-E) during the last week.

Two “Shramadana Campaigns” were organized by 2 Gajaba Regiment (2 GR) and 6 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (6 VIR) of the 221 Brigade, to clean the premises of Annandakulam pre-school in Annandakulam and  Girihadusaya Viharaya in Thiriyaya during Thursday (20) and Friday (21).

School amenities and dry ration packets were distributed among 40 students and 40 civilans in Vakarai area and 30 students and 30 civilans in Namalgama area on Thursday (20) by 3 and  24 Battalions of the Sri Lanka National Guard, of the 233 Brigade under the 23 Division. Financial assistance was provided by Mrs Indrani Mendis, a donor.

On the same day a Kovil Pooja was conducted at Murugan Kovil in Ariyamankarni by the 22 VIR troops of the 222 Brigade.

Meanwhile, the 232 Brigade of the 23 Division organized a tree planting campaign in Pulipanchikal and Kudimbimalei areas on  Saturday (22) with the participation of civilians.

Mr. A. F. Wijerathna, a retired principal gave away 5 scholarships, each worth of Rs.1,500.00 to students in Kanthale and Ichchalanpaththu areas on Wednesday (19). It was organized by the 222 Brigade of the 22 Division.
