Brigadier J.M.S.G.B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP who retired from active service was felicitated at the Ganemulla Commando Regimental HQ on 25 November.
At the beginning of the ceremonial proceedings, he was welcomed by Brigadier B.M.S.K.K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP, the Centre Commandant Commando Regimental Centre at the entrance to the HQ after a ceremonial Guard Turnout greeted him before a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the parade ground saluted him.
Afterwards, he offered a floral tribute to fallen Commandos at the Commando War memorial and sat for a group photograph with all Officers in front of the Officers' mess. Thereafter, Brigadier J.M.S.G.B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP addressed all Commando Officers and NCOs at the Commando Regimental lecture hall.
During his address, he stressed the importance of maintaining a Commando Culture by all the Commandos when both on and off duty. Further, he elaborated on the significant areas of his 33 years of military service by remembering all the veterans, Senior Officers, Officers, and NCOs who have immensely supported him during his unblemished and eventful military career.
At the conclusion, a plaque was offered to Brigadier J.M.S.G.B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP by the Centre Commandant, Commando Regiment as a token of appreciation for the service rendered to the Commando Regiment.
A tea at Commandos Club House Complex premises and signing of the visitors’ book at the Officers’ mess brought the day's ceremony to an end. A street line up to the main entrance presented last salute to the outgoing Senior Commando.
The Centre Commandant of Commando Regimental Centre, Brigadier K.V.I.L Jayaweera USP the Commander, Commando Brigade, Council Members, senior and other Officers and a cross-section of NCOs from all Commando deployments were present at the event.
