Commander visits troops in Jaffna

Despite the hectic schedule, ahead of the Army Day and 56th Anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Army, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shantha Kottegoda during the weekend took time off for an inspection tour to the areas under 51 and 55 Divisions in Jaffna.

Commander Lt General Kottegoda after he was received by Major General Sunil Tennakoon, Commander Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna at Palaly airport after a brief stop over at Headquarters made a bee-line to the Forward Defence Line (FDL) at Kilaly. Representing the Commander 55 Division, Colonel A.M. Perera, Commander 553 Brigade, joined the Commander during the visit. Lt. Gen Kottegoda after giving a patient hearing to soldiers inside bunkers spoke to a few of them to obtain first-hand information regarding their hardships and suggestions.

Later, Lt. Gen. Shantha Kottegoda and other Senior Officers made their way to the 51 Division where they discussed matters pertaining to training at length. Colonel S. Ranasinghe, Commander 512 Brigade, received the Army Commander and invited him to address the troops.

Brigadier A.D.G.A. Jayawardene, Director Operations, Army Headquarters was also associated with the Commander during his tour to Jaffna.
