Commander Speaks High of Service of Retiring Major General Indrajith Bandara

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army after inviting retiring Major General Indrajith Bandara, Director General Infantry who has served many key appointments in the Army and the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) to the former's office at the Army HQ this morning (1), extended best wishes for his future endeavours during retirement.

General Shavendra Silva during the brief interactive meeting with the outgoing Senior Officer shared memories and a few thoughts and commended his dedicated services to the Army for more than three decades. Major General Indrajith Bandara is one of the proud soldiers, produced by the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and has been a tower of strength to the SLSR as a Senior Officer.

Major General Indrajith Bandara was appointed the Director General Infantry on 30 July 2021 after his office as General Officer Commanding 54 Division.

The outgoing Senior Officer also thanked the Commander of the Army for his warm wishes and the thoughtfulness while mentioning about the encouragement he received from the Army Chief in the performance of his duties. Towards the end of the interaction, General Shavendra Silva awarded a special memento to the retiree as a symbol of appreciation and commendation. The gesture was reciprocated.
