Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander Security Forces - East visited the 22 Division and under command 221, 222 and 223 Brigades during 19-20 August 2021.
He first arrived at the 222 Brigade Headquarters at Jayanthigama, Kantale where the visiting Commander was accorded a drive-past salute around the main entrance. Addressing the troops, the Commander SF-E specially highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standards of discipline at all levels and urged them to stick to health guidelines in the present pandemic situation in the country.
The Commander SF-E afterwards, visited the Headquarters 223 Infantry Brigade, Kattaparichchan where he was received by the Brigade Commander, Colonel Ravindra Jayasinghe. During the troops address, the Commander SF-E enlightened the troops on the aforesaid aspects.
On the following day, the Commander Security Forces-East had a courtesy call on the District Secretary (DS) Trincomalee Mr Saman Darshana Pandikorala at the District Secretariat Trincomalee and had cordial discussions insisting the need to have an effective communication among government authorities and Security Forces to accomplish the desired objectives of the Nation. Later on, the Commander visited the proposed Headquarters premises of the 221 Brigade, Kumburupiddy and observed ongoing constructions.
Meanwhile, Major General Channa Weerasuriya also took time off to inspect the proposed burial site of Covid-19 victims. Major General Sanath Aluvihare, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division also accompanied the Commander SF-E during the visits.
