Commander Security Forces (West) Inaugurates Newly Constructed House For A Needy Family

Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), presided over a housewarming ceremony on 23 October 2024 as the Chief Guest, marking the handover of a newly-constructed house to a deserving family in Thudawa, Matara.

This project was initiated as part of the Sri Lanka Army’s 75th-anniversary celebrations, under the strategic guidance of Commander of the Army, and executed under the leadership of Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc. The construction was closely monitored by the General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division and the Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade, with active participation from troops of the 3(V) Gemunu Watch. These soldiers contributed their efforts and applied their specialized technical skills, ensuring high-quality construction and timely completion of the house.

The new home, built for Mr. C.G. Ediriweera and his family, was made possible through the generosity of local donors who contributed financially and provided essential materials. During the housewarming ceremony, the Chief Guest formally handed over the house to the beneficiary in the presence of several dignitaries. The event featured traditional religious observances, offering blessings to the family and wishing them success in their future endeavors.

The ceremony was attended by Brigadier K.T.P De Silva RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division, Brigadier S.N.M.A.B Arambepola RWP, Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade, and Major W.D.S Nandasiri, Commanding Officer of the 3(V) Gemunu Watch. In addition, Senior Officers, government officials, donors, and family members of the beneficiaries were present, reflecting the spirit of community support and collaboration that brought the project to fruition.
