Major General K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP assumed office as the 23rd Commander of Security Forces (Central) on 17 February 2025 amidst formal military formalities.
Upon arrival, the Commander was accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Thereafter, he planted a sapling to mark the occasion and posed for a group photograph.
Subsequently, the Senior Officer took over duties amidst religious observances and placed his signature on an official document to symbolise the formal acceptance of his new office.
He then addressed the troops, outlining his aims and objectives while emphasising the importance of maintaining discipline and good conduct at all levels. Towards the end of the briefing, he attended a formal All-Ranks tea at the NCOs' Club.
A comprehensive briefing on the role and tasks of the Security Forces (Central) followed at the conference hall. Finally, the Commander delivered his concluding remarks and encouraged all officers to be active members of his team.
