Commander, Security Forces – East Visits 24 Division

The newly-appointed Commander Security Forces – East (SF-East), Major General S.A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, made his maiden visit to the 24 Infantry Division and its under-command Brigades and Battalions during 3-5 May 2024.

On his arrival, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 24 Infantry Division, Major General W.L.A.C Perera RWP RSP USP, extended a warm welcome before he was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance.

At first, he planted a sapling in the premises and posed for a group photograph with the staff. Thereafter, a comprehensive briefing was conducted by the GOC on the role and tasks of the Division.

Addressing the troops Major General S.A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline, professionalism and unwavering dedication at all times.

Following the formal proceedings, the visiting Senior Officer interacted with the troops during an All-Ranks tea and left some complimentary remarks in the visitors’ book prior to the departure from the Division.

Next, the Senior Officer visited the 241 Infantry Brigade, planted a sapling on the premises and participated in a briefing on the Brigade's role and tasks.

During the visit, the Commander, SF-East, witnessed the progress of Deegawapiya Restoration Project and bricks project which are carried out under the supervision of the 24 Infantry Division. Further, he interacted with the troops working in the projects and appreciated their commitment and dedication.

Subsequently, Major General S.A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, visited 242, 243 Infantry Brigades and 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and participated in briefings regarding the deployment and role & tasks.

Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the event.
