On the day prior to the inauguration of the CHOGM, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Thursday (14) morning made another surprise visit and personally supervised temporary board and lodging facilities, organized for soldiers assigned for CHOGM security and other duties.
Accompanied by senior officers, including Brigadier Wasantha Kariyawasam, Director Army Quartering, the Commander had a close look at temporary housing arrangements, made available at Dematagoda.
During the visit, the Commander spoke to a couple of soldiers who have been accommodated there and inquired into facilities, organized for Army and other services for those personnel working during round the clock during the CHOGM.
