COMMANDER REMOVES SENIOR OFFICER FROM HIS APPOINTMENT IN ANURADHAPURA

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on hearing that a senior officer in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, had been arrested by the Anuradhapura Police on Saturday (22) evening for alleged possession of narcotics, took immediate steps to remove him from his present appointment in Anuradhapura.

Police maintain that the said senior officer was arrested with narcotics in his possession, following information provided to the Anuradhapura Police on Saturday (22).

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army in keeping with his ‘zero tolerance policy’ against Army wrongdoers, irrespective of their rank, instructed the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) to commence immediate investigations and co-operate with the Anuradhapura Police for further onward investigations while providing all the information about the suspect to Police authorities.(Ends)
