Commander Pays Respect to Remains of Most Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, along with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), paid their respects to the remains of the late Most Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, known as Podi Hamuduruwo, on 04 August 2024. The Thero passed away at the age of 81.

The Army Chief, expressing deep sorrow and offering his condolences to Ven. Kirinde Assaji Thero, conveyed the collective grief felt by the Army. Most Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero was a respected Thero whose contributions to the community were widely acknowledged and appreciated.

Following the condolences, the Army Chief inspected the funeral arrangements scheduled to take place on 05 August 2024 at the Hunupitiya Gangarama Temple premises. The preparations for the final rites are being meticulously managed to ensure a dignified farewell to the Thero.

The occasion was also attended by Major General C.S. Munasinghe WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc IG, the Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army, along with several Senior Officers.
