Sri Lanka Army\'s new Commander Lt. Gen S. H. S Kottegoda paid his obeisance to the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth Relic) in Kandy and called on both Maha Nayake Theros (prelates) of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters on Wednesday (July 7, 2004) to receive blessings in accordance with age-old traditions.
The visiting military chief made offerings to the sacred Tooth Relic after he was received by Diyawadana Nilame Niranjan Wijeratne at the Sri Dalada Maligawa on arrival.
During his meet with Malwatte Chapter Maha Nayake Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sumangala Thera and Asgiriya Chapter Maha Nayake Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera, Lt. Gen Kottegoda exchanged views on matters of national and religious importance.
The visiting military leader offered Atapirikara to both monks after he received blessings of Pirith chanting.
