Lt. General Shantha Kottegoda, Commander of the Army after his hectic day's programme at Saliyapura on Friday (11) where he opened the new Swimming Pool complex, took time off to meet a cross section of his troops at Kok-Eliya and Bogoda under Wanni Security Forces Headquarters.
During his visit to the Kok-Eliya camp, Lt General Kottegoda opened several newly-built billets for troops deployed there. To mark the occasion, he planted a tree sapling and went on to address the troops deployed in the area where he praised troops for their support being given for sustenance of the cease-fire agreement.
“We are aware of the difficult and arduous tasks you had undertaken in our search for peace in the country. Your enormous contributions, despite provocations of the enemy, have hitherto helped the country sustain its momentum of peace. We should still strive to reach our goal as a nation.†the Commander said.
After his stay with them, Lt General Kottegoda proceeded to Bogda Infantry Training School in order to declare open another billet complex, meant for trainee troops. The new complex at Bogoda, built by troops themselves housed in the centre, facilitates accommodation to hundreds of troops undergoing training there. Commander paying a glittering tribute for their dedication and commitment to the cause once again highlighted the importance of sustenance of peace in the country and the support given to its sustenance.
Major General Parami Kulathunge, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni and several other senior Officers were associated in the tour to both Kok-Eliya and Bogoda.
