MEDICAL officers, nursing and para medical staff at the Anuradhapura General Hospital came in for praise this morning (21) for their dedicated services provided to War Heroes, brought there for urgent medical attention during the height of Wanni humanitarian operations.
Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya who took time off to show his gratitude to them visited Anuradhapura and met all members of staff at the hospital who attended on War Heroes. He personally commended them for their untiring role during a special meeting, convened at the Nursing Training School auditorium for this particular purpose.
Speaking to them, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya extolled their tireless services, rendered to injured soldiers on priority basis when they were rushed to hospital for immediate medical attention.
“Your devotion and dedication on those War Heroes at the right time saved many of their lives. You tenderly cared for them while lying in hospital. This is a great service a human being can offer to another fellow-human being whose role for the country was highly valued and admired at national level.”
In appreciation of their exemplary role, the Commander gave away Certificates of Appreciation to the staff in those military wards at the end of the felicitation ceremony.
Earlier on Friday (21), Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya paid their respects to Jaya Siri Maha Bodhi and a few other shrines of the Atamastana in Anuradhapura.
