Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake intending to further motivate Army Canoeing and Kayaking Champions who won both the National Championship 2019 (Men) and Men’s Championship under 23 early this month posing a big challenge to service teams and the country's leading Canoeing and Kayaking clubs went to see them on Wednesday (27).
Those players still undergoing training in Diyawanna oya met the Commander at the Waters' Edge Hotel, together with several veterans and their coaches. During this brief interaction, the Commander of the Army motivated the Champions by talking to them and inquiring into their needs, etc before they get ready for future tournaments. Major General Anura Sudasinghe, Director General Sports after welcoming the Commander introduced the players to the Army Chief who made a surprise visit to the location.
Mr P.T Perera, Chairman, Sri Lanka Canoeing and Kayaking Association, Mr Danuna Thilakarathna, National Team Manager, Colonel Vipula Ihalage, Chairman Army Canoeing and Kayaking Association and the Commander Special Forces Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Asanga Perera, Secretary to Army Canoeing and Kayaking Association, Major Wasantha Dissanayake and a few others were present at the location.
