Commander in Jaffna Exchanges Views with Governor

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army currently in Jaffna making his first formal visit to the peninsula after assumption of his new office called on the Governor for Northern Province Dr Suren Ragavan at his office in Jaffna on Friday (20).

During the cordial meet, both of them shared views on the progress of reconciliation moves in progress in the peninsula, humanitarian projects of the Army, civil-military projects, nation-building tasks, promotion of socio-cultural programmes, house constructions, poverty alleviation projects, etc. The Governor expressed his happiness over the commitment and dedication of the Security Forces and extended his warm greetings on Lt General Silva's new office as a well-experienced soldier of the Army.

Dr Ragavan also complimented on the roles, being played by the SFHQ-Jaffna for the common good of the people in Jaffna. Towards the end of the cordial interaction, the visiting Army Chief presented a memento to the Governor.
