Commander Interacts with War Heroes at Abhimansala 01 during Surprise Visit

Inmates at Abimansala 01 at Anuradhapura Monday afternoon, freely interacted with Commander of the Army General Jagath Jayasuriya when he made a surprise visit to the place with the intention of inquiring into wellbeing of permanently dependent war heroes residing there.

General Jayasuriya who has thrown his full weight behind the successful completion of these wellness resorts including one (Abhimansala 02) at Kamburupitiya and the other one nearing completion at Pangolla Kurunegala at a cost of RS. 750 million was received on arrival by the Abimansala 01 Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Kanishka Bandara.

Two of the totally disabled war heroes who underwent therapy at Abhimansala 01 since its inception expressed their surprise and retold him their miraculous recovery that enabled both of them to walk after sustained therapy in the wellness resort.

These masterpieces of exceptional quality and standards were made possible for the best interest of those permanently depended war heroes due to the fact that members of the civil society volunteered to make lavish donations, realizing the noble nature of the conceptual notions, through which life time-care is being provided to those War veterans.

General Jagath Jayasuriya during the interaction opined that it is the responsibility of the public too to take care of these heroes who have sacrificed their legs and limbs on behalf of the nation. He shared a cup of tea with these inmates talking to them and listening to their concerns.

Meanwhile, the Commander visited the Udamaluwa (Upper layer) at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya Anuradhapura where Army troops are engaged in constructing a new Sangaha Vasaya (residential quarters) by the side of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya area. He spoke to the engineers of the Army and inquired into the progress.

General Jagath Jayasuriya before the end of his itinerary called on incumbents at Merisavetiya and Lanka Ramaya.

Few senior officers were also associated with Commander’s visit to Abimansala 01 at Anuradhapura.
