Commander Interacts with Inmates at 'Abimansala'

As the second leg of the day’s Flag Blessing ceremony at Anuradhapura, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army took time off and visited the newly-opened ‘Abimansala’, the wellness resort for dependent War Heroes and inquired about their well-being.

During this new added feature to the day’s itinerary, the Commander met all those officers and soldiers attending the Anuradhapura ceremony at ‘Abimansala’ premises and shared refreshments with them.

He also did not fail to mingle with hundreds of soldiers present at the occasion to share a couple of thoughts with many of them during refreshments.

The state of the art, ‘Abimansala’ (wellness resort), on the banks of the ancient Nuwara Wewa in Anuradhapura, exclusively designed to house dependent Army War Heroes for the rest of their life-span, was ceremonially vested in disable warriors by His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently at the request of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
