Commander Inspects New Site for Wellness Resort Expected to House NWP Dependent War Heroes

The new wellness resort, meant for rest and recreation of permanently dependent War Heroes in the North Western Province (NWP) is to kick off its inaugural construction work shortly in Alawwa area.

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Saturday (27) went to see the 20 acre extent of land and received the firsthand glimpses of the site, expected to erect the 2nd wellness resort where he, along with architects, landscape experts, constructors and relevant other contributors to the project, had an initial discussion after taking all geographical realities into consideration.

The construction supported under the ‘Brave Hearts’ fund-raising project of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch presided by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya is to house about 40-50 NWP War Heroes who are dependent for the rest of their lives following serious injuries, sustained in LTTE terrorism. The first ‘Abimansala’ was opened on 26 July 2011 at Anuradhapura where 52 more dependent War Heroes were accommodated.
