Commander Has Audience with Trincomalee Bishop

During a tour to the port city of Trincomalee in connection with some formal civil-military assignments, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army Sunday morning (25) had a courtesy audience with His Eminence Rev. Christian Noel Emmanuel, Bishop of Trincomalee at the latter's vicarage in Trincomalee.

Both of them shared general views in relation to most recent outbreaks of violence and agreed the need to curb such trends before they develop into bigger issues. The Lordship also expressed his satisfaction over the manner the unrest in Kandy was brought under control with minimum force in fairness to all ethnic communities in the hill country.
