Commander Encourages Best Army Riders Gifting Brand New Racing Motorbikes

Sri Lanka Army-produced two of the best motorbike racing riders, Corporal H.M Premarathna of 1 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and Private S.A Rajakaruna of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) enjoyed the bonanza of sport this morning (20) when both those national level achievers became the recipients of two brand new Yamaha racing motorbikes as incentives from the acting Chief of Defence Staff & Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

The brief ceremony, organized by the Army Motorsports Committee at the Sri Jayewardenepura Army Headquarters saw Corporal H.M Premarathna who has made riding records in racing 125 cc (2019, 2018 and 2017) after gaining the first place in National Rankings and the first place within the Army and Private S.A Rajakaruna who secured the 4th place in Super Mordart 250 cc (2019), 3rd place in Super Mordart 250 cc (2018) and 2nd place in Super Mordart 250 cc (2017) in National Rankings and at tri-service levels, received those incentives after inviting both of them to the Army Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva gifting those brand new racing motorbikes, each worth about Rs 2.5 m to both of them extended his best wishes for more and more future achievements.
