Commander During First Formal Visit Addresses Troops Serving SFHQ-Central

With the objective of meeting the troops, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on Friday (29) made his first formal visit to the Security Force HQ- Central (SFHQ-C) at Diyatalawa at the invitation of the Commander of the Security Forces- Central Major General MKS Silva RWP RSP ndu.

At the main entrance to the SFHQ-C, a smart Guard Turnout presented by 23 Gajaba Regiment troops honoured the day's Chief Guest on arrival before he was warmly welcomed by the Commander, Security Forces-Central. Next, he was invited to take the salute in the customary Guard of Honour, held at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Tranining School parade ground after the parade Commander reported it.

The Army Chief adding memories to his visit after a while sat for a few photographs, together with senior Officers and Staff Officers serving under the Security Force Headquarters-Central. Planting a sapling in the compound afterwards, he symbolized his first visit to the premises as the incumbent Commander of the Army.

After a few minutes, the occasion reached its peak as the Army Chief rose to his feet to address a cross section of both Officers and Other Ranks, drawn from all Divisions, Brigades and Battalions serving under the Security Force HQ-Central where he underlined the importance of duty commitments and the need for constant enhancement of professional knowledge, ongoing Army’s Green Agriculture Drive and the need for maintaining of there highest standards of discipline in the organization.

Towards the culmination of the address, the SF Central Commander, Major General MKS Silva RWP RSP ndu presented a memento to the Commander of the Army and appreciated his arrival there. The gesture was reciprocated by the Army Chief.

General Officers Commanding of 11 and 12 Divisions, Commander FMA-C, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the occasion.
