Two Army-groomed world-class cricketers, Ajantha Mendis and Sekkuge Prasanna who contributed to the victory in the recent T20 World Cup cricket tournament, received congratulations and cash awards from the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake when both of them called at the Commander’s Office Wednesday (9) morning.
Together with senior officers of the Directorate of Army Sports, both these cricketers met Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayke, who extended his heartfelt best wishes and greetings over the T20 World Cup victory in Bangladesh.
Before the end of the brief meeting, the Commander, appreciative of their contribution to the victory, awarded cash gifts of Rs 5 lakhs to each of them separately and wished both of them all the success in their future undertakings.
