With the objective of extending his best wishes on the eve of retirement, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army recently invited Major General Jaliya Senarathna, General Officer Commanding - 11 Division to his office for an interactive session.
The Army Chief appreciated his more than three-decade-long dedicate of service of Major General Jaliya Senarathna, one of the proud Army soldiers, produced by the Gajaba Regiment (GR). He also refreshed past battlefield gains and memories with the retiring Senior Officer and inquired into his future endeavours after retirement. He also appreciated his contribution to the promotion of the Gajaba Regiment and the Army in general while serving many key appointments across the island with commitment.
The outgoing Senior Officer also thanked the Commander of the Army for his wishes and the thoughtfulness while noting the encouragement he received from the Army Chief in the performance of his duties. Towards the end of the interaction, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva awarded a special memento to the outgoing retiree as a symbol of appreciation and commendation.
